Rent Control
Rent controlled tenancies are private tenancies which are either:
- Protected or statutory tenancies (formerly known as restricted and regulated tenancies under the Rent (Northern Ireland) Order 1978)
or
- Any private tenancy which began after 1 April 2007 and which does not meet the fitness standard, having been inspected by the district council.
or
- Any private tenancy which began after 1 April 2007 where a Notice of Unfitness has been issued by the district council or where a Repairs Notice has been issued by the Housing Executive (unless it is exempt - see below)
